The Story:
After living full-time in Beaufort NC for 25 years, I have fallen in love with our town, its barrier islands, wild horses, the endless variety of boats which pass through our waterways, our local shrimp boats, our sea life, our bird life and Cape Lookout National Seashore. All of my paintings reflect my love for these special and unique local treasures.
This painting is inspired by my love of shrimp boats near and far. This scene is from a Spring Day in Swan Quarter NC. I was on a road trip and looking for live crabs to take to my brothers home in Hatteras. Instead I discovered a large shrimping fleet and was mesmerized! Especially how they docked and departed. It was a tight canal for such large boats. But the Captains are masters.
