The Story:

Shrimp Trawlers Capt. Ryan and Jonathan Ryan both in Fulcher's Trawler Fleet are sure to captivate your hearts as they rest at dock preparing to catch your fresh local shrimp. These are Fulcher Shrimp Trawlers, painted in bright red, near the color of shrimp when they are steamed and cooked!

This scene was captured from the Old Beaufort Drawbridge around 2007. It is iconic to its residents and visitors alike in Beaufort North Carolina. To watch them depart toward the ocean or go Northward up Core Creek toward the Neuse River and Pamlico Sound is a sight to behold. To go beneath the Core Creek Bridge they must "crab". A rare and memorable sight with such skilled Captain's to preform such a feat without crashing into the concrete pillars.

I have always loved working boats, and as a 24 year resident of Beaufort NC, I have captured many scenes like these over the years. This is a part of our local culture, the feeling of being home. I so appreciate our shrimpers as it is hard work, and surely a labor of love.

This scene often has dolphins swimming, pelicans resting on nearby pilings, seagulls spying for stray shrimp, or a Kingfisher diving. The last remaining working commercial waterfront in Beaufort North Carolina, it is alive with these large steel shrimp trawlers as well as smaller wooden shrimp boats at Ted and Todds, just around the corner.
