The Story:
After living full-time in Beaufort NC for 25 years, I have fallen in love with our town, its barrier islands, wild horses, the endless variety of boats which pass through our waterways, our local shrimp boats, our sea life, our bird life and Cape Lookout National Seashore.
All of my paintings reflect my love for these special and unique local treasures. I have always enjoyed the majestic live oaks that add beauty to our coastal landscape and help protect us from hurricanes. I painted these live oaks in hopes of showing their natural beauty as their trunks and limbs twist and turn, shaped by the wind, the sun and salt air. You will see their tree tops are often sheared by the prevailing Southwest winds over Carrot Island and Shackleford Banks adding even more character. The stories these live oaks could tell...
