The Story:
After living full-time in Beaufort NC for 25 years, I have fallen in love with our town, its barrier islands, wild horses, the endless variety of boats which pass through our waterways, our local shrimp boats, our sea life, our bird life and Cape Lookout National Seashore. All of my paintings reflect my love for these special and unique local treasures.
This painting was inspired by a memory of Mid October when the sunlight had a golden hue similar to the nearby marshes. A front had just come through and the North winds lifted the Beaufort Docks signal flags in flight. Always a beautiful sight! Sailboats and Motoryachts were coming down the ICW on their way South, and tying up in slips for the night.
